please rise and face the flag and we'll do the Pledge of Allegiance together today I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all please take a moment of silence good morning I'm dr. Scott and I'm mr. door light happy to have you back this is really it's been way too long and we are excited you might not quite recognize as really but why you tell them a little bit about what's going on well I must have you might not know that Buy in February of last school year I was diagnosed with cancer and because of that some of the medical medicines that I had to take one of the side effects is that makes I'm out so now I have new are growing in and it probably looks a lot different for some of you kids that do remember me and know me but just know that I'm well I'm out and we're going to rock it with some different hairstyles while there is growing back in I love it and I'm so glad to be back so glad to be back in 2 News welcome the news for the week of Monday September 28th to Friday October 2nd we're so excited to see many of your faces today even though or Mast we have missed you very much there are many new and procedures for school as we do our very best to keep each other safe and well your teachers will be talking about these procedures as well as showing you some videos and practicing the he already thought I'd remember we are stronger together and just enough to our virtual students you are just as important to our school Community as a students that we have here face face there are over 100 virtual students attending east side and we've even been joined by a few students from other schools and just to let you know this is Womack will be continuing the Going the Distance drawing for you guys to be sure to watch the news each week here is this week in school lunch menu Monday pepperoni and cheese pizza Choice grilled chicken sandwich or PB&J uncrustable sloppy joe or turkey sandwich cheeseburger Hamburger or PB&J uncrustable birthday chicken alfredo Choice Indian burger or turkey sandwich Friday chicken nuggets your choice bacon egg and cheese biscuit or PB&J uncrustable and now it's time for the word of the week this week's word is confidence confidence means a belief in oneself and abilities so and still be nervous about something new yes you can be confident in your abilities but still be nervous about trying something new that's where your growth mindset helps you how about this does confidence keep you from making mistakes are normal whether you have confidence or not but confidence will help you try again even though you messed up never a bad thing to have what are you and remember to use the word while speaking and writing this is the last week for our focus on mindset hopefully you have thought about ways your growth mindset can help you learn something new let's see if there are other staff members who are willing to share about their growth mindset hi this is why Mac and my growth mindset help me learn how to juggle everybody this is Mystery odor and I'm going to show you one way that I showed growth my 7 is exactly about your age when I was in third grade the one thing I wanted to do more than anything else would be able to dribble a earache without looking at the basketball around my legs and let me see the first couple times around the other way I bounce it off my shoe and I couldn't do it I got so frustrated cuz my older cousins could do it without looking they could do with both hands they could do behind the back and I kept trying and trying and trying in my driveway every day. school and eventually I got it eventually now I can look right and dribble in a figure 8 without looking at something I couldn't I had to keep trying I was able to do it so just like something you really want to work at if you're frustrated have a growth mindset a picture of Landis and this month. do you even talking about growth mindset well I also have a growth mindset I have always wanted to try and tile and I got a new house and I wanted to tile to hear you have it I really didn't know what I would do but I gave it a shot I study and I got it done so what is something you want to do study it find it and don't give up find your growth mindset I guess it's time for one of my fabulous jokes I know how much you all of my jokes so this was Worley I'm going to ask you this call Coach no sorry start again why did the football coach go to the bank I have no idea to get his quarterback thank you and now let's go to miss me while Mac for are Going the Distance awards for this week hello Eastside explorers it is time for Going the Distance Awards I'll bet some of us are back face-to-face and some of us a virtual we're going to continue our Going the Distance Awards but we're going to draw one name out per grade since there are fewer of you so helpful. Each grade and then and we will get your prize back to you are virtual student so these are virtual students now so from kindergarten our virtual student for kindergarten is from his last year's class obviously and it is Savannah Lopez way to go Savannah from fur great our winner for the going a distance award for first grade from mrs. Bowen's class and it's Cameron young way to go Cameron and now from second grade Miss bennet's class Addison Dowden way to go Addis and then from third grade Miss Miss Driscoll's class Aiden Keefer way to go Aiden keep up the good work going the distance and then our last winner for going the distance for this week is from fourth grade and it's from is as big as his class is Mason wack way to go Mason keep up the good work and thank you are virtual students for Going the Distance and thank you for being all of you for being proud positive and productive have a great week
