Mrs. Karr grew up in the small town of Mitchell, Indiana, just thirty minutes south of Bloomington. Mrs. Karr went to Mitchell Community Schools until she graduated from Mitchell High School in 2011.
After high school Mrs. Karr continued her education at Purdue University where she pursued a degree in Art Education and a minor in Art History. Before she received her degree, Mrs. Karr student taught for 16 weeks, eight of those weeks were at Prairie Crossing and Otterbein Elementary Schools teaching K-6, and the other eight were at McCutcheon High School teaching intro to 2-D Art, Painting 1, 2, & 3, and Drawing 1 & 2.
Since her graduation in 2015, Mrs. Karr has been teaching art for all grades at Eastside Elementary. She is focused on giving her students the best art education they could receive. She loves getting into messy and new art mediums with her students such as printmaking, ceramics, paper mache, and more! Mrs. Karr has also began Art Clubs for E2 where we get the chance to learn even more artistic mediums, such as tie dying and silkscreen printmaking! On top of teaching art and doing art clubs here at Eastside, Mrs. Karr is also the coach for the girl's basketball team and a middle school volleyball coach for a school in Madison County.
Mrs. Karr got married in April of 2017 to her now husband Nicholas Karr. Nick is also a teacher at Anderson Preparatory Academy where he teaches History, Psychology, and Current Events and also coaches the varsity soccer team. Mrs. Karr and her husband have a cat named Jane, who is a white fluff ball of fun. Jane's favorite pastimes include getting loved on, finding new places to lay around in their home, and eating.
